This Brazilian Serra das Três Barras specialty coffee is a new offering here at the Roastery and we think it’s really special! With a high 90 SCA to boot!

Serra das Três Barras arose from the division of the Fazenda das Três Barras, traditionally devoted to the production of coffees of extremely fine quality. They are certified Minas coffee through the Minas Gerais State Coffee Certification Program, and have won multiple awards from Cup of Excellence (both early and late harvests) as well as internal cooperative competitions and from some of their global customers.

The area where the coffee was produced today belongs to producer José Wagner Ribeiro Junqueira, who farms the land with his three sons (Kleber, Ralph and Herbert de Castro Junqueira), and his wife Margarida Maria de Castro Junqueira. The family has a cultivated area of 160 hectares of coffee, of several varieties, spread over six properties belonging to the group, which has the renowned Serra das Três Barras as its headquarters, where all the coffees produced are processed and prepared.

Cherries are hand picked for quality and because of the topography of the farm. Those cherries are then sent to the drying patios the same day for processing, and rested for 30 to 60 days in wooden lined silos after that. Final dry milling is done at the premises of Cocarive nearby, where beans are colour sorted, graded and bagged for shipping.

In your cup, you can expect apricot, lime and hibiscus lying under a caramel, syrupy character.

Suitable for all brew types, however this works amazingly in a Cappuccino.
