We are delighted to bring this new Brazilian offering to Flat Cap.
An enchanting coffee featuring notes of Swiss chocolate caramel, hazelnut and melon with a sweet, honey like finish, this really is an amazing tribute to the fine Brazilian coffee heritage.
At the Roastery, we love this coffee in espresso based drinks but it works just as well in filter and cafetiere.
- All of our coffees are 100% Specialty Grade
- We roast to order so you can guarantee the freshest possible coffee
- All of our coffees are ethically sourced
We always recommend buying whole bean coffee as this is the best for freshness. We are however happy to grind our coffee to your specification if this is how you would prefer it. Please note, we only supply ground coffee in 227g and 500g bags.
FARM STORY
Today, she hails from Lambari, in the south of Minas Gerais, one of the 25 cities that make up the Mantiqueira de Minas region. Luana is always seeking knowledge and exploring new coffee varieties that can withstand the challenges faced by coffee growers, believing that climate is the greatest challenge they face. As she puts it, only God knows what it’s like to work in an open-air environment, doing everything possible to ensure strong, resilient plants that produce the best possible fruit.
For a long time, she thought healthcare was her true calling, as her desire to help people was always strong. However, over time, she realized that her parents were producing specialty coffee with aromas and flavors she never imagined this fruit could offer, and she began to fall in love with the land—the land she feels she never should have left. Today, she has her own land and loves following the process from planting to the sweet scent of roses during flowering, all the way to the first fruits.
Her passion grew even stronger as their coffees began receiving recognition. Today, she considers her family to be specialty coffee producers. Along with her siblings, they rely on this beautiful fruit as their primary source of income. She now strives to perfect both the harvesting and post-harvesting processes, believing these steps are essential to maintaining the quality of the fruit. Together with her parents, they invested in a static dryer to enhance quality and reduce drying time.
They have the privilege of living in a mountainous, high-altitude region, which elevates the quality of their coffee. However, semi-mechanized harvesting in such terrain isn’t easy. As her father likes to say, mountain coffee farming is tough, but coffee thrives in hilly regions. The plants are heavy with fruit, and she believes the extended sunlight on the slopes helps them produce more.
