Bright, clean and beautifully balanced, Peru Los Amigos del Oso combines lively fruit with soft sweetness and a smooth, tea-like finish.
Grown in the highlands of Cajamarca in northern Peru, Los Amigos is produced by members of Cooperativa Agraria Frontera San Ignacio – COOPAFSI – a long-established cooperative bringing together hundreds of coffee-growing families across the region.
The coffee is grown at 1,350–1,890 metres above sea level, where the elevation and varied landscape provide excellent conditions for slow cherry development and complex, sweet coffees.
Los Amigos is also connected to something much bigger than the cup.
The coffee forms part of the El Oso Project, created to support the forests surrounding the Santuario Nacional Tabaconas Namballe – a protected natural area that provides habitat for extraordinary wildlife including the endangered spectacled bear, or oso de anteojos, from which the project takes its name.
Working alongside the cooperative, the project supports conservation and more sustainable coffee production through initiatives including native tree planting, reforestation, solar drying infrastructure, producer training and wildlife monitoring.
On the farms, coffee cherry can also be composted and returned to the soil as natural fertiliser, reducing waste and supporting a more circular approach to production.
The coffee itself is washed, helping preserve the clarity and brightness that make Los Amigos such an interesting cup.
Expect vibrant cranberry and orange, softer pear-like fruit and a smooth black tea character, all rounded by the darker sweetness of molasses. It's lively without becoming sharp, with a medium body and beautifully clean finish.
A coffee with plenty to say in the cup – and a story that reaches far beyond it.

Recommended Brew Methods
V60 / Pour Over ★★★★★
A beautiful match for Los Amigos. Pour over highlights the cranberry and orange brightness while allowing its delicate black tea character and clean sweetness to shine.
AeroPress ★★★★★
Retains plenty of the coffee's fruit and clarity while adding a little more body, bringing the molasses sweetness further forward.
Cafetière ★★★★☆
A rounder, fuller expression of Los Amigos, softening some of the brighter citrus while emphasising its sweetness and body.
Espresso ★★★★☆
A lively and complex espresso with bright fruit, molasses sweetness and a clean finish. A great choice for anyone who enjoys something fruitier than a traditional chocolate-led shot.
Flat White / Cappuccino / Latte ★★★☆☆
It certainly works with milk, but we'd rather let this coffee's cranberry, citrus and tea-like qualities take centre stage.
Our pick: V60 / Pour Over
For a clean, vibrant cup that showcases the cranberry and orange brightness, delicate black tea character and gentle molasses sweetness.
