Low effort, smooth flavour, and ice-cold goodness — coffee that does the work while you sleep.
What You’ll Need:
- Coarse ground coffee (like chunky sea salt)
- Cold or room temp water
- Large jar, jug, or French Press
- Fine strainer or muslin cloth
- Spoon
- Fridge
- Patience (just a bit)
Coffee-to-Water Ratio:
- 100g coffee to 1 litre water
You can scale up or down depending on how much you want.
Step-by-Step:
- Add Coffee to Your Jar
Pop 100g of coarsely ground coffee into your container. - Add Water
Pour in 1 litre of cold or room temperature water. Give it a good stir to make sure all the grounds are wet. - Cover & Let It Brew
Cover the jar and leave it to brew for 12–18 hours at room temperature or in the fridge. We like 14 hours for the sweet spot. - Strain It Well
Use a fine sieve, muslin cloth, or coffee filter to strain into a clean bottle or jug. If using a French Press, just plunge slowly and pour. - Serve & Store
Serve over ice, dilute with cold water or milk if you like it lighter. Store in the fridge for up to 5 days.
Pro Tips:
- Try it with oat milk and a dash of maple syrup — dreamy iced latte vibes without the faff.
- Cold brew is naturally sweet and smooth, so it’s great for folks who find hot coffee a bit intense.
- Want a bolder flavour? Brew it longer (up to 18 hours) or use more coffee.
- For something extra special, try using a single origin with chocolate or fruity notes — cold brew brings those flavours out beautifully.
- Store it in a glass bottle or jar for up to 5 days in the fridge — just give it a swirl before serving.
- You can even freeze cold brew into ice cubes for a chilled coffee that never waters down.
