Fast, fun, and full of flavour — no gadgets needed, just great coffee.
What You’ll Need:
• AeroPress
• Paper filter (or metal disc if you’re fancy)
• Freshly ground coffee (medium-fine, like table salt)
• Kettle
• Digital scales (optional)
• Timer
• Mug
Coffee-to-Water Ratio:
• 14g of coffee to 220g (ml) of water
Perfect for one strong, punchy cup.
Step-by-Step: (Inverted Method – Flat Cap’s Favourite)
1. Boil & Cool Your Water
Bring to the boil and leave for 30 seconds — aim for around 92–94°C.
2. Set Up Your AeroPress (Inverted Position)
Place the plunger into the AeroPress base and stand it upside down (so the chamber is open at the top). No filter yet!
3. Add Coffee
Add 14g of medium-fine ground coffee into the chamber. Give it a little shake to level it out.
4. Start Your Timer & Add Water
Pour in 220g of hot water. Give it a stir at the 30-second mark.
5. Attach Filter Cap & Prepare to Flip
Rinse your filter paper and place it in the cap, then screw it onto the chamber.
6. At 1:30, Flip & Press
Carefully flip the AeroPress onto your mug (hold tight!), then press down gently. Aim to finish pressing by 2:00.
7. Enjoy!
Clean-up takes seconds — and your cup should be smooth, rich, and full of flavour.
Pro Tips:
• Want a longer cup? Just top up with hot water after brewing — that’s an Americano-style.
• Too weak? Try a longer brew time or slightly finer grind.
• Too bitter? Go coarser or reduce the steep time slightly.
