For those who like their coffee clean, crisp, and calming to make.
What You’ll Need:
- V60 dripper (1–2 cup size)
- Filter paper
- Freshly ground coffee (medium-fine, like table salt)
- Digital scales
- Timer
- Kettle (a gooseneck one makes pouring easier)
- Mug or carafe
Coffee-to-Water Ratio:
-
15g of coffee to 250g (ml) of water
That’s a nice single mug. Scale it up as needed (e.g. 30g coffee = 500g water)
Step-by-Step:
- Boil Your Water
Bring it to the boil, then let it cool for 30 seconds. We’re aiming for around 94°C. - Prep Your Filter
Place the filter in your V60 and rinse it with hot water. This gets rid of any papery taste and warms the brewer. Discard the rinse water. - Add Your Coffee
Put 15g of medium-fine ground coffee into the filter. Gently shake to level the bed. - Start the Bloom (Time: 0:00–0:30)
Pour in 30–40g of water — just enough to wet all the grounds. Let it sit for 30 seconds to let the coffee degas and prepare for extraction. - Slow & Steady Pour (0:30–2:30ish)
Begin pouring the rest of your water slowly in circles, starting in the middle and moving outwards, then back in. Pour steadily until you reach 250g. The entire pour should take about 2 minutes. - Let It Drip
Once you’ve poured all the water, let the brew finish dripping through. Total brew time should be around 2:30 to 3:00. - Enjoy the Clarity
Remove the V60 and give your coffee a gentle swirl before sipping. You’ll get all the clarity and complexity your coffee has to offer.
Pro Tips:
- If your brew is running too fast, grind finer.
- If it’s dragging on too long, go coarser.
- Try it black first — then add milk if you like, but pour over shines on its own.
