More than 60 years of family coffee-growing tradition, captured in one beautifully sweet Brazilian natural.
Female Producer Lillian Lisboa Gallo | Red Catuaí | Natural | 85 SCA
From the mountains of southern Minas Gerais comes a beautifully sweet Brazilian coffee with more than sixty years of family history behind it.
Fazenda São José has been producing coffee for generations, and today the farm is cared for by Lillian Lisboa Gallo, great-granddaughter of its founder. Lillian continues her family’s coffee-growing tradition while placing particular importance on sustainable cultivation and protecting the farm’s natural environment, including its forests and water sources.
Growing at around 1,100 metres above sea level in the Serra da Mantiqueira, ripe Red Catuaí cherries are selectively harvested before being naturally processed and carefully dried. The result is a wonderfully rounded coffee that combines the comforting sweetness Brazil is famous for with just enough fruit and acidity to give it character.
Expect a rich foundation of chocolate and caramel, deep cane-molasses sweetness and a touch of dried apricot, lifted by a gentle, apple-like malic acidity.
It’s smooth, full-bodied and extremely easy to love, but with enough complexity to remind you that this is an 85-point, single-farm speciality coffee.

Recommended brew methods
Espresso ★★★★★
An excellent match for São José. The natural process and rich chocolate, caramel and molasses sweetness produces a full-bodied, syrupy espresso with plenty of sweetness.
Flat White / Cappuccino / Latte ★★★★★
This coffee is made for milk. Its chocolate and caramel character carries beautifully into a flat white, latte or cappuccino, creating a rich, smooth and almost praline-like cup.
Cafetière ★★★★☆
A great choice for highlighting the coffee’s fuller body and natural sweetness, producing a wonderfully rounded and comforting brew.
AeroPress ★★★★☆
Expect plenty of sweetness and body, with the dried-apricot character becoming a little more noticeable alongside the chocolate and caramel.
V60 / Pour Over ★★★★☆
A cleaner brew will bring more of the coffee’s dried fruit and gentle malic acidity forward while retaining its underlying sweetness.

As a small independent roastery, we occasionally adjust prices to reflect rising costs and to continue roasting responsibly. Existing subscriptions are unaffected.
